Kimpex Piston Ring Segment for ARCTIC CAT

Piston and ring installation:

• Never install chrome rings in chrome-plated, Nikasil or electrofusion cylinders.
• Before installation, slide each ring into the cylinder bore and measure the end gap to eliminate the risk of the ring ends butting together. An acceptable gap is between .010 and .025. If the gap is inadequate, carefully file the ends to obtain the recommended measurement.
Refer to the “Cylinder/Piston Clearance” guide.
• Clean and lubricate all parts with 10W30 motor oil.
• Install the piston with the arrow pointing toward the exhaust (except on certain POLARIS models, where the arrow must point toward the magneto).
• Carefully install the retaining clips without bending, forcing or twisting them. Make sure they are properly seated in the grooves and that the openings face downward.
• Install the rings on their corresponding pistons. Lubricate them and check that the ends can close completely at the locating pins.
• Install the new base gasket, compress the ring and slide the cylinder over the piston. Before installing the cylinder head, turn the crankshaft by hand to make sure the pistons and rings move freely in the cylinders.
