An acceptable gap is between .010 and .025. If the gap is inadequate, carefully file the ends to obtain the recommended measurement. \u003c\/li\u003e Refer to the “Cylinder\/Piston Clearance” guide. \u003cli\u003eClean and lubricate all parts with 10W30 motor oil.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eInstall the piston with the arrow pointing toward the exhaust (except on certain POLARIS models, where the arrow must point toward the magneto).\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eCarefully install the retaining clips without bending, forcing or twisting them. Make sure they are properly seated in the grooves and that the openings face downward.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eInstall the rings on their corresponding pistons. Lubricate them and check that the ends can close completely at the locating pins.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eInstall the new base gasket, compress the ring and slide the cylinder over the piston.
